I am buying my first BX23 tractor tomorrow and I am looking for a checklist for when I go to pick it up. What do I need to ask and know prior to excepting the tractor. The dealer said he would show me what I need to know in about less than an hour. I am not sure if he will give me all the information that I need. I know nothing about diesels

Start with a full lube check, and filter location. Then have them disconnect and reattach all attachments. Review all controls and their operation. That's might be all that you might be able to remember. Take some extra paper or paper clips to leave in the owners manual on the pages used for your review. ....

The dealer should have already done this but it never hurts to go over the machine and verify torque on all of the major nuts and bolts on the machine as per the manual specs. A loose lug nut or bolt on a wheel or other item can ruin a good experience. I would suggest doing this when you get it home. ....

Like has been said many times here, a good dealer is just as much a part of your new tractor as the color is. A good dealer will be glad to answer any questons that come up later, happy customers are their greatest asset. Good luck. Frank. ....

Thanks for the info. I search the internet all day for actual list of things to check but was not able to find anything. What you guys told me was more than what I could find. I only had three dealers to deal with, the winner was a $1000.00 less and nice in person, but not a real phone person. So I hope that he will be willing to help since I am a newbie. I got suckered last year with a Satoh Beaver that was not all that useful on my property.

I always advise people who are taking delivery of a new unit to have someone else there with them to videotape the whole thing.
The reason is simple, the 'awe' factor usually overwhelming and people rarely absorb much of what is being said, and demonstrated.
A video is a permanent record of all that was said and done. Something that will be available anytime they need a refresher, or to verify that something is being done correctly.
It will also keep you on much better terms with your dealer since you won't be phoning them elevteen times to ask simple questions that were already answered but were forgotten.
I also find a video camera makes a person more detailed and thorough in their explanations.

Chief thats a good call and the only thing I'd add is to run it for a bit first, it should be done before the unit hit's ten hours. For the most part I've not heard of to much not being tightened leaving the dealers yards in a while. ....
